Frequently in today's business world a good brainstorming session is a great way to kickstart or infuse a project, idea, dormant product etc...
When humans openly meet face-to-face, ideas happen. A well orchestrated brainstorming meeting can deliver unimaginable results and exhibits the power of people collaborating on a topic.
Follow the tips below to help capture all those brilliant ideas at your next brainstorming meeting.
- Have the right tools at hand. You shold try to have: An easel, large flip charts, flipchart markers, color coding labels, etc... (If you are technically advanced you may have one of those whiteboards that can be copied to a computer, saved and printed)
- If there is a large group at the meeting you may want to consider having 2 or more people assigned to capture the ideas.
- Bring visuals and other aids that will facilitate inspiration if possible. For example, if the meeting is to come up with ideas for a new website design, ensure an internet connected PC is available to review the current website and what competitors are doing.
- Identify the topic(s) for discussion and write it boldly on the flip chart or somewhere else within the meeting room.
- At the onsetof the meeting make it a point to remind all attendees that there is no such thing as a bad idea. During the meeting try to refrain the group from judging ideas as they are brought up but instead capture each and every idea.
- At the end of the meeting ask each attendee to nominate their top 3-5 ideas either verbally or by coming up and putting a mark next to that idea. The idea(s) with the most interest and appeal will become very apparent.
